Howard Plummer’s Facial Bowen Technique

I recently undertook training with Howard Plummer and Helen Watson learning Howard’s Facial Bowen Technique. To say this was a transformational experience with regards to my Bowen practice would be an understatement.

Howard and Helen’s work is proving to be remarkable on it’s effects with children with cerebral palsy, Asperger’s Syndrome, ADHD and autistic difficulties. Having treated hundreds of children at their clinic in Cardiff there is well-documented evidence of Bowen’s positive effects for these conditions. Please refer to the testimonial at the bottom of this post. Howard and Helen have taught this technique to many Bowen practitioners who have gone on to run their own clinics for these children with special needs. It was whilst working with Rita Eccles in Lewes, East Sussex, that I was inspired to persue Howard’s work.

John Coleman benefits from Bowen Technique in his recovery from Parkinsons Disease

I have seen nothing short of miracles as a result of various peoples experiences with Bowen Technique, but I also know that the technique alone cannot be credited wholly with the amazing stories of ‘recovery to Health.’ I write the word health with a capital ‘H’ for a reason, but that is for another article down the road.

One such experience is that of John Coleman. John used the Bowen Technique as part of his recovery protocol from Parkinsons and I contacted him recently to ask his permission to publish his story. He kindly granted that permission but with the following provisos;

“Bowen was an important part of my recovery process, but not THE MOST important part. We estimate that 80% of recovery comes from individual effort and dedication to the process. Of the remaining 20%, about 65% was the Aquas and 25% Bowen (i.e about 5% of the whole process). So I wouldn’t want to see statements like “John Coleman recovered using Bowen” or similar. I am happy to say that Bowen was the most helpful form of bodywork and assisted in cell hydration or something like that.” Read more ...
